French artist and poet Etienne Ret was a formally trained artist born in France at the dawn of the 20th Century, in 1900, and he died there at the end of it, in 1996.  In between he spent much of his life active in the arts community in America, living in San Antonio in the 1930s and in Los Angeles in the 1950s, where he taught at the Chouinard Art Institute.

This is a signed "etching", sold at the art gallery Associated American Artists that reigned on 5th Avenue in NYC from 1934-2000. This piece looks to have been for sale in the 1950s, when it was offered for a rich $45. That translates to about $550 today, so we're offering a good deal for this beautiful rendering of a woman (or man?) named Pat. We'll probably never know Pat's significance to Mr. Ret, and that's okay...it's enough that he left us such interesting and beautiful art.
